In fact, in some cases, things take a turn for the dire and the day ends with a loss of the mother’s life.

1. Olabisi Monsurat
Olabisi Monsurat was a Nollywood actress and television personality who starred in a number of Nollywood movies before her unfortunate passing. Popularly referred to as Bisket by fans and colleagues, the talented actress passed away less than two weeks after she welcomed her child. According to reports, she passed away at a Lagos Clinic on Saturday, March 30th 2019 following complications that arose from her delivery. Olabisi gave birth and died at the tender age of 47.
2. Funke Abisogun AlHassan
Yoruba actress, Funke Abisogun AlHassan, died only a few days giving birth to her child. Her husband, Taofiq Alhassan took to social media to announce Funke’s death a few days after her death after which her friend Tunde Olayusuf also took to social media to write:

Just days ago, people celebrated with you for the delivery of Ur baby, now the Sun set at noon and U are no more…
May God look after the new born child and give Ur husband, the family, friends of the family and the industry at large the fortitude to bear the loss.

3. Bisi Komolafe
Bisi Komolafe was a very popular and prolific Nigerian actress who starred in movies such as Igboro Ti Daru, Bolode O’ku, Asiri Owo and Ebute.
The news of her death hit the media on 31 December 2012. At the time, the circumstances surrounding her death generated a lot of reports and speculations. However medical reports later came out to confirm that Bisi died of pregnancy related complications at the University College Hospital, Ibadan. She was later buried on January 4, 2013 in Ibadan.
4. Modupe Oyekunle
Fast-rising Yoruba actress, Modupe Oyekunle died in the early hours of Tuesday, April 4th 2017 while giving birth to her third child in Abeokuta. The actress died while giving birth to a baby girl, thankfully the baby survived. However, Modupe did not. She is survived by her husband and three children.
5. Moji Olaiya
Popular and beloved actress Moji Olaiya was a powerhouse Nollywood actress and television personality known mainly in the Yoruba movie sector. At 42 years old, she delivered a baby girl in March but then two months after the birth, she died in a hospital in Canada from complications related to child birth.
